{"id":1028428,"date":"2018-09-26T11:46:49","date_gmt":"2018-09-26T09:46:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asc-aqua.org\/?post_type=news&#038;p=28428&#038;source_id=28428&#038;target_id=1028428"},"modified":"2024-11-28T16:53:10","modified_gmt":"2024-11-28T15:53:10","slug":"asc-welcomes-first-dutch-farm-kingfish-zeeland-to-its-programme","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/asc-aqua.org\/news\/asc-welcomes-first-dutch-farm-kingfish-zeeland-to-its-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"ASC welcomes first Dutch farm, Kingfish Zeeland, to its programme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"block wysiwyg\">\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col-12\">\n\t\t\t\t<p style=\"line-height: 15.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica',sans-serif;color: #767572\">The ASC has welcomed the first Dutch farm to its programme after Kingfish Zeeland achieved certification against the ASC Seriola standard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 15.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica',sans-serif;color: #767572\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingfish-zeeland.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kingfish Zeeland<\/a> raise Pacific Yellowtail (seriola lalandi), commonly referred to as Kingfish or Hiramasa, on a land-based farm in The Netherlands, which has been certified following an audit by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sgs.nl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SGS<\/a>, a third-party certification body.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 15.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica',sans-serif;color: #767572\">Not only is the farm the first in The Netherlands to be ASC certified, it is also the first Pacific Yellowtail farm in the world to join the programme. Pacific Yellowtail is found in the Southern Pacific Ocean and traditionally shipped to Europe from Australia and Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 15.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica',sans-serif;color: #767572\">\u201cThe ASC was established in The Netherlands, and there is a great consumer demand for responsibly-sourced seafood here, so we are delighted to see Kingfish achieve certification in this country. It uses North Sea water from an estuary in the Oosterschelde nature reserve.
