In April 2016, just five years after the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, the ASC welcomed Miyagi Prefecture Fisheries Cooperative Oyster farms to the programme as the first ASC certified farm in Japan. The farms are situated just off the Pacific Ocean coastline in the northern Japan and have been certified against the ASC Bivalve Standard.

At the end of April, the Japan’s biggest retailer Aeon and ASC certified salmon producer Ventisqueros announced their collaboration to start selling the first Chilean certified coho in Asia. Ventisqueros is the first Chilean producer to be recognised as a strategic partner by a Japanese retailer, and according to Aeon the partnership was triggered by ”the alignment of values” of the two companies. Aeon is also planning to increase the share of ASC and MSC certified seafood sales from 3% to 10% by 2020.

["post-1004780","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry
["GET
