{"id":1000402,"date":"2015-03-23T19:29:51","date_gmt":"2015-03-23T19:29:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asc-aqua.org\/?post_type=news&#038;p=402&#038;source_id=402&#038;target_id=1000402"},"modified":"2024-10-16T10:18:00","modified_gmt":"2024-10-16T08:18:00","slug":"los-fiordos-seeks-asc-certification-for-100-of-its-salmon-production","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/asc-aqua.org\/news\/los-fiordos-seeks-asc-certification-for-100-of-its-salmon-production\/","title":{"rendered":"Los Fiordos seeks ASC certification for 100% of its salmon production"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"block wysiwyg\">\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col-12\">\n\t\t\t\t<p><b>Chilean salmon producer Los Fiordos has agreed to enter its entire salmon production for assessment against the ASC Salmon Standard.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Los Fiordos signed an agreement with the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF), which sets out specific goals and outlines sustainability measures and commitment to changing practices, including assessment of the farms to measure their potential compliance for ASC certification.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">More than 30 salmon centres belonging to Los Fiordos will be assessed against the ASC salmon standard. The salmon farms are located in the ACS (Agrupaci\u00f3n de Concesiones Salmoneras) or Barrio 32 area. These are near marine priority conservation areas and are highlighted for their rich biodiversity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The document was signed by Ricardo Bosshard, director of WWF Chile, and Sady Delgado, CEO of Los Fiordos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to Bosshard, &#8220;This agreement provides serious and measurable commitments on several issues where the overall national salmon industry is still in debt commitments.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;Therefore, it is a breakthrough and shows a willingness to change to forget about past negative events and push the industry towards better environmental and social practices,&#8221; he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Delgado explained that &#8220;for our company it is a very important step that strengthens the commitment of the industry, and in particular of Los Fiordos, with long term sustainability of salmon production.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This agreement will run over the next two years.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","tags":[],"class_list":["post-1000402","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/asc-aqua.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/1000402","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/asc-aqua.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/asc-aqua.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/asc-aqua.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1000402"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/asc-aqua.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1000402"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
